The Prekindergarten Department held its Homework Celebration on Saturday at the Pelham Picture House! The celebration recognized 50 out of the 112 students who completed 90% or more of their homework from October to February. A lottery for 50 spaces was held to select students for the celebration. Families were so excited to watch the Mario Movie in a private local theater, and the Prekindergarten Department can't wait to host their final celebration in June with a viewing of Toy Story 2!

The Mount Vernon City School District’s draft proposed budget for the 2026-27 school year will be presented from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at Pennington School, by Superintendent Dr. Demario Strickland. Please attend to learn more about how the District plans to invest in its schools in the upcoming year, provide feedback, and ask questions about the budget. The presentation will also be livestreamed.

Hamilton School students received a donation of over 30 books, which went directly to the students, from the Mount Vernon Public Library (MVPL) last week! MVPL representative and MVHS Alumna, Bre’Anna McQueen, then spoke to students, teachers and staff about the wonderful free opportunities offered at the library.

Mount Vernon Knights athletics is set for a full slate of action the week of April 12, with teams competing across the region in track and field, baseball, softball and flag football.

Families with young children are invited to learn, connect and have fun at the Mount Vernon City School District’s upcoming Mount Vernon Basics Workshop. The district will host its second in-person “Talk, Sing and Point Workshop” on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Mount Vernon High School, 100 California Road.
