MVCSD hosts annual Fall Festival

Families throughout Mount Vernon spent Saturday afternoon at Graham School, engaging in fun-filled activities together at the district-wide Fall Festival. Community members learned about resources throughout the city, such as the Mount Vernon City School District Parent Resource Center (PRC).

State of the District Address delivered to faculty and staff

Mount Vernon City School District Superintendent Dr. Demario Strickland addressed staff, teachers and administration during his State of the District yesterday, celebrating accomplishments and highlighting challenges during his first 125 days leading the District.

Varsity Girls Soccer completes historic season and competes in Sectionals, eight players receive All-League honors

Congratulations to the Mount Vernon Varsity Girls Soccer team on a historic 2025 season! Under the leadership of Coaches Jay Concepcion and Eldon Morales Jr., the Knights earned 8 victories—7 more than last season and the most wins the program has seen in nearly two decades. For the first time in 19 years, Mount Vernon qualified for the Triple-A Sectionals Tournament, showcasing the incredible growth and dedication of the team.

Several Mount Vernon City School District students will be speaking about green infrastructure they have worked on in Mount Vernon to sustainability groups at the White Plains Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 10. Several MVHS students worked to establish the greenhouse garden at MVHS over the spring and summer. Roscoe Brown, a 10th-grade Mount Vernon STEAM Academy student and urban forestry advocate who will speak, also contributed to soil building and planting. Other students helped build the raised beds.
