MVCSD participates in Read Across America Week

The Mount Vernon City School District is thrilled to announce our participation in Read Across America Week, taking place March 2nd through March 6th!

Throughout the week, our schools will come alive with engaging, joyful, and meaningful literacy experiences designed to celebrate the power of reading. Students across the district will participate in themed activities, special events, and creative classroom experiences that inspire a lifelong love of books.

This exciting week of celebration has been thoughtfully planned in collaboration with our exceptional Reading Specialists and Library Media Specialists. Their creativity, passion, and dedication to literacy shine through in every activity, ensuring that students across all grade levels enjoy a memorable and enriching experience.

We look forward to seeing our classrooms filled with stories, imagination, and the shared joy of reading as we come together as a district to celebrate Read Across America Week!

Let’s get ready to read, imagine, and grow — together!

The Prekindergarten Department held its Homework Celebration on Saturday at the Pelham Picture House! The celebration recognized 50 out of the 112 students who completed 90% or more of their homework from October to February. A lottery for 50 spaces was held to select students for the celebration. Families were so excited to watch the Mario Movie in a private local theater, and the Prekindergarten Department can't wait to host their final celebration in June with a viewing of Toy Story 2!
